Community Strategic Planning Meetings
The Douglas County Board of Education will hold a series of community meetings as part of the district's five-year strategic improvement plan process. All meetings will be held in the media center of the host school at 6:00 p.m.
The first meeting will be held March 4, 2026, at Douglas County High School, followed by meetings on March 17, 2026, at Lithia Springs High School; March 19, 2026, at New Manchester High School; March 23, 2026, at Mirror Lake Elementary School; and March 24, 2026, at Alexander High School.
**Parent and Family Engagement Announcement – April 24, 2026**
The Douglas County School System Title I Department is in the process of reviewing and revising the district’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan. This plan outlines how the district will implement programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents and families in Title I programs. The plan will establish the district’s expectations for parent and family engagement and how the district will carry out federal and state parent and family engagement requirements. Parent input into the revision of this plan is requested and required. The input form linked below will be active until Friday, May 15, 2026 at 12:00pm.

🏀 DCEF 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
The Dville 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is being proudly hosted by the Douglas County Education Foundation (DCEF) — a nonprofit that raises funds and resources to enhance educational opportunities for students in the Douglas County School System.
This youth basketball tournament is more than a game — it’s a celebration of community, school spirit, and student achievement. Proceeds from the event will support innovative classroom initiatives, teacher grants, and student scholarships across the county.

Douglas County families can now apply for free and reduced-price school meals through the district's online application system.
The application process opens today and uses the SchoolCafe mobile app available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Parents and guardians can create an account, select "Apply for Benefits" and follow the step-by-step instructions to complete their application.

NORMAL SCHEDULE WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2025: The Douglas County School System will resume normal operations tomorrow, January 22, 2025. All students and staff are expected to report to their campuses at their normal times. El Sistema Escolar del Condado de Douglas reanudará sus operaciones normales mañana, 22 de enero de 2025. Se espera que todos los estudiantes y el personal se presenten en sus campus a las horas normales.
DCSS Schools Closed Tuesday: Due to the State of Emergency declared for Winter Weather, the Douglas County School System will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Student pictures can be ordered online at BillMillerPhotographers.com using the QR code or Access Code on the bottom of the picture proof form. You can also send cash, check or money order in the envelope provided no later than Friday, October 11, 2024.
WEATHER UPDATE: The Douglas County School System has been closely monitoring Hurricane Helene and the potential for heavy rain and strong winds in our area tomorrow in collaboration with the National Weather Service. According to the National Hurricane Center and our local emergency management agency, inclement weather will begin impacting our area on Thursday evening. At this time, schools will operate on a normal schedule on Thursday, September 26, 2024. However, all after-school activities and programs on that day will be canceled. In addition, all classes, after school events and activities will be canceled for Friday, September 27. Our top priority is to always maintain the safety of our students and staff. Therefore, we will keep a vigilant eye on weather conditions throughout the evening. If there are any further changes, we will promptly inform our school community. We will communicate this important information through email, text, and social media platforms. It will also be shared on social media and in collaboration with our media partners. We appreciate your understanding as we continue our focus on the safety and well-being of our school community.

We're looking forward to welcoming our DCSS community for our annual Back to School Kick-Off on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Please note the event will be held at the Legacy Arena, 9030 Hwy. 5, Douglasville, GA 30134, and the Clear Bag Policy will be enforced. Current DCSS students and families are invited for food, games, prizes, school supplies, and more! Community agencies offering a variety of resources will also be onsite to provide information and assistance.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is currently taking place. Students must have completed registration by July 9 in order to attend Kindergarten Camp, the Douglas County School System's four-day camp that provides students with a preview of the school day and an opportunity participate in fun activities, learn routines, and become familiar with the places and faces within their new learning environment. Summer is the perfect time for students to dive into a great book! The Douglas County School System and the West Georgia Regional Library System have teamed up to provide students with P.L.A.Y.
(PINES Library Access for Youth) Cards that provide free access to public library materials so that reading can continue year-round.
