Ms. Dunigan

To Create, Ignite, and Inspire is Angela Dunigan’s goal as she passionately guides children in active music making. Her child-centered approach to instruction was fostered through certification in Orff Level I (2000) Level II (2002) and Musikgarten (2005).

Angela is a native of Ohio where she attended The University of Akron earning a Bachelor Degree in Music Education (1996). She pursued further advance study at Lesley University where she received a Master Degree (2006) with an Integrated Teaching through the Arts concentration.

Angela has been an employee of Douglas County Schools for 23 years. The majority of her career has been dedicated to Bright Star Elementary. She is actively engaged with students through extra-curricular activities. Her faithful service and diligence is reflective of every group she facilitates. The Chorus, Bucket Drum Club and Drum Circle add a cohesiveness to our school climate. In February of this year, she organized and directed her first small production in recognition of Black History Month.

Angela also recognizes the significance of community service and involvement. During the month of December, the chorus went to perform at assisted living facilities in the area. This experience taught students to share the gift of time.

Angela believes teaching is not just a career but her calling. As a veteran teacher, she has learned the key to success in the classroom is building positive relationships with students and families. Her focus is to create, ignite and inspire students through music.

“A music teacher helps their students find the song in their heart, the beat in their feet and

a passion for life.”
